HouseRules / Character Generation

Starting Attributes

Start with 8 across all attributes, and a pool of 32 points. Assign the 32 points to attributes as you like, not to exceed 18. Then apply racial modifiers. Lastly, apply the attribute bump that would have been received at 4th level.

Generate 2 sets of 4d6, where you take the best 3 of 4 dice to generate an Attribute, and assign to Attributes as you like. Do not mix between the two sets. Add Pathfinder racial attributes on top of results.

Sources

The WOTC Complete Series is fine for feats and alternate base classes, though I'd like to see what you have in mind. Spells-wise we'll use standard Pathfinder spells and Golarion spells. Those in Spell Compendium are fair game too, with roughly one per spell level chosen initially.

Miscellaneous

  • Pick one trait from the traits table to represent a tendency you have in mind for starting level. The 5th level trait will be group-determined once you have played your character a bit.
  • I'll need a rough history for your character, perhaps a paragraph or two, covering: social background, rough geography or terrain familiarity, groups with whom s/he has traveled or associated.

Equipment

Per the character wealth by level table, you should have roughly 16000gp worth of equipment. A good rule of thumb is a class-appropriate offensive item, defensive item, one or maybe two miscellaneous items, and then potions and scrolls.

Current Money

Take either the average, or the best of two rolls, per your class. This represents money on hand after having gained levels. Most of Total Character Wealth above will have been rolled into equipment in some capacity.
